- Encourage pupils to develop an understanding of the wider applications and effects of information technology.
- Encourage pupils to solve problems through the use of information systems and associated principles and techniques.
- Provide pupils with a broad and balanced view of the range of applications and information systems and an understanding of their capabilities and limitations.
Our Objectives are:
- Provide an information technology curriculum that delivers the National Curriculum in each key stage together with vocation education when appropriate.
- Provide an information technology curriculum that relates the information technology in lessons to the wider applications and effects of IT in everyday life.
- Choose learning experiences that build upon previous work and pupils' present knowledge and understanding.
- Provide specific opportunities for pupils to take on responsibility for their own learning by encouraging the development of research, practical and investigative skills.

- Provide opportunities for pupils to consider the social, legal, ethical and moral issues and security needs for data that surround the increasing use of this technology.
What we do in KS3
At Key Stage 3, we follow the National Strategy for ICT programme of study incorporated with teach-ICT resources which is well detailed and covered all aspects of ICT and functional skills. The course covers a wide variety of topics such as:-
Progress is monitored by regular class tests
What we do in KS4

What we do in KS5
GCE AQA Computing consists of 4 modules;
AS -
Comp 1 Problem-solving and programming
........Comp 2 Computer systems, hardware, ethics.
A2 -
Comp 3 Problem-solving, programming concepts, databases ........Comp 4 System dvelopment, final design & implement project.
How do we do it?
KS3
KS4
KS5
Students attend six lessons per week. These may involve theory lessons supported by computer simulation of topics. Homework tasks and research and examination preparation. Year 12 students may have the opportunity to specify, build and configure computers.
How is my work assessed?
In A-level Computing progress is continually monitored with regular tests as topics are studied. The final grade is by examination for Comp 1,2 and 3. Comp 4 is a major coursework project.
What skills will I develop?
Research and investigative skills
Independent work/Group work
Organisational /communication skills
Analylitical skills
Will this course suit me?
For Computing, above all, a personal interest in programming and computing technology is essential! With this, are you prepared to tackle problems and develop solutions independantly? If you would rather be shown the solution to a problem then you CANNOT develop problem-solving/programming skills.
Where can it lead?
