Who are we?
Ms McAuley - Head of Department
Mr Prime
Mr Fisher
What are our aims?
- to enable all pupils to gain an understanding of the History of human society
- provide students with the ability to make informed and reasoned judgments about the past and present issues.
- give an awareness of historical forces, both good and bad, needed to make rational decisions about the future.
- to appreciate that we live in a present that has been shaped by the past, and that the future grows out of the past.
The History department is very popular with students at Raine’s. This is reflected in the uptake of the subject at GCSE and AS level. Students have achieved good exam results in recent years in History, especially at Key Stage 5...... we aim to continue this trend!!

............................................................yes? then maybe History is for you.
Where can it lead?
Successful results in History show that you have a level of literacy and are able to research, analyse and interpret complex information. An understanding in the subject area offers a very broad general knowledge base. These aspects are very suited to a wide range of careers such as journalism, law, media, and human resources.
