A FIVE DAY RESIDENTIAL TRIP TO MALHAM IN THE BEAUTIFUL YORKSHIRE DALES .
The aim was to assist understanding of various topics and geographical skills required for the AS paper 3 skills examination.
It is an ideal place for students to study limestone features including, pavement, sink holes, and swallow holes, gorges, carburation and weathering.
The students also undertake an investigation into river processes on Cowside Beck. They collect data using technical geographical equipment including hydroprops. They also complete statistical tests to identify significant relationships between data sets that they have gathered.
We also take the opportunity to study vegetation succession. The study centre has a hydrosere and lithosere close by.
