Unit 1
This unit requires students to engage in a Programme of Study that will help them appreciate how a variety of drama activities can be used to deepen their understanding of drama form.
Unit 2
This unit introduces students to the content of plays written for the theatre. They must have experience of live theatre as a member of the audience.
Unit 3
Students demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of practical drama skills through their application to a live audience.
What we do in KS5
How do we do it?
Drama can only be fully understood through practical experience so the focus is on developing the skills needed for performance. There are four blocks of study:
- Forms of Stimuli
- Explorative Strategies
- The Elements of Drama
- The Drama Medium.
We enjoy trips to the theatre, have visiting speakers in and also work with theatre groups who deliver workshops
How is my work assessed?
Almost all assessment is practical. There is no written examinations although you will be required to keep a written record of your practical work. You will explore themes, ideas and plays in a wholly practical way and your teacher will assess how well you have done.. You will be required to perform in a play with a visiting examiner in the audience.
