Year 10 Shakespeare production workshops – Romeo and JulietPosted on: 1/05/2019
On Tuesday 15th May The Globe Players came to the school to deliver ‘text study productions’ of Romeo and Juliet to students in Years 9 and 10. Over three separate performances, every student in Years 9 and 10 had the opportunity to take part in one of the hour-long sessions, which included a performance of the play by the actors in full costume, and analytical discussion of the play.
The actors really brought Romeo and Juliet to life for students, and gave them the chance to see the play performed on a stage, which is how it was intended. The actors performed in the round, with the audience surrounding them. The students have said how much they enjoyed the performances, and learnt a lot from them. As well as being entertaining, this will help to prepare them for the Romeo and Juliet question on Paper 1 of their English Literature GCSE.
